What makes my live paintings different from photographs or videos?

A camera takes what it sees at the split second the shutter closes, and everything is recorded as it appeared to the lens at that split second in time ... someone is blinking or moving, etc ...  and in a similar way, the video camera records what it sees at the precise time of filming.  When I am painting, however, I am able to capture what I see as a great image and then add what I see are other great images ... so that my painting becomes Best Moments all in one picture, without any of the clutter that is usually in a camera image.  I can also make you shorter, taller, fatter, thinner, etc etc.  After all, your beauty is in my eye, and that is how I paint you.

What does it cost?

The short answer is your painting will be priceless. Painting are prices according to size and include the pre event preparation, customised materials, and the painting/s. 16x20 inch painting $1250, 18x24" $1500, A 24x30" $2200, 30x40 $2950. Larger sizes are available: the largest I have done so far was 48x72 for Mercedes Benz at a Gala Event" I can also do additonal smaller paintings, which make unique gifts for special people... brides often ask me to do a painting of the Father Bride dance. Prices for these additional paintings available on request.

My painting prices are for bookings within a 30 mile radius of center city Philadelphia. When I finish painting very late at night and the return journey to and from the venue is more than 2hours, there will be an overnight fee so that I can preserve my energies to paint for you.

Groups and families will often combine resources to have me paint at their event, and brides can register with guests to book me to paint as a combined gift.

What medium do I work in?

The paintings are done in oils, using either canvas or hardboard, all using archival quality materials.

What is my working procedure?

I arrive at the venue  a few hours early, liaise with the venue management and planners, and I begin painting at least two hours before the guests start to arrive so that when the guests arrive, I can start putting them in the painting … and when a bride and groom arrive, they can then “walk into the painting”.

I paint what I can actually observe, as it is happening.  So if there is something you would like to have painted, please make sure that I can see it.

How long does it take to complete a painting?

Many paintings are completed on the spot, and if I think a painting needs to go further, I will work on it in my studio. However most clients are happy to take the paintings as they are.

What do we discuss before the event?

We will discuss the size options I can offer you, your input and ideas, the venue and the painting options, such as the best place to me to set up...

The venue management team will need to know that I am coming and be prepared to work with me to be able to set up out of their way.  We all understand that I can’t interfere with their hospitality duties and  I usually arrive 3-4 hours ahead of the event in order to establish my set up and make myself known to the organizers.

How much space do I need?

My set up in very compact.  Depending on the size of painting/s 3ft x6 ft is a good size and I need to be in a spot where I can see what I am required to paint.

Where did you study as a painter?

I received classical figure training at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, in Philadelphia, and have been painting people in action for the last ten years.  My work includes painting live at Weddings, Parties, Fund Raisers, Broadway Shows, Shakespeare, Gilbert and Sullivan, all kinds of musicians and dancers, coffee shops, beaches, markets and fairs.

How do you book me?

CALL ME.   TEL:  302.475-0990

I can answer your questions and when I know more about your venue and schedule we can talk about what I can do for you.    Once you have decided to book me, I will ask for a security deposit to save the date for you.  Don’t worry if you haven’t decided on which and what paintings you would like me to ... we can discuss that later .... the most important thing is to secure your date.   It has often been my experience that everybody wants to get married on the same day !!
